….ask Tinubu to act now
Amid yesterday’s chilling attack on Christian worshipers at a church in Kwara State, prominent Nigerian celebrities have expressed their outrage and called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action or step aside.
The incident, described by eyewitnesses as unprovoked and deeply disturbing, has reignited conversations about insecurity and what many now describe as a growing pattern of targeted violence against Christians in some parts of the country.
Gospel Minister Dunsin Oyekan was one of the first public figures to react, expressing his anguish over what he called “a genocide of the Christian faith” that is spreading across the country.
In a statement posted on his official social media platforms, Oyekan called on God to judge all enemies of Nigeria and those who continue to wage war against Christians.
He lamented that centers of worship have become increasingly unsafe and stressed that the loss of innocent lives in a sacred place of prayer is “a wound that should not be ignored.”
Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele also reacted strongly, questioning how children and their parents could be so brutally murdered without a national uproar.
Akindele said he found it difficult to understand the silence of leaders who swore to protect the people, adding that the death of innocent citizens should shake all institutions in the country.
Veteran actress Kate Henshaw joined the call, noting that Nigerians are tired of mourning and repeated assurances that yield no tangible results.
Henshaw emphasized that the lives lost deserved justice, and urged the presidency to confront the killers with the full force of the law.
Comedian and activist Macaroni delivered perhaps the harshest criticism, noting that he had once advised former President Goodluck Jonathan to resign when similar attacks occurred during his administration.
He said President Tinubu should not be exempt from the same responsibility, arguing that the leadership must be held to the same standard regardless of who is in power.
Macaroni argued that if the government cannot protect its people, then it has lost its moral authority to remain in office, a sentiment increasingly echoed by frustrated Nigerians.
