Experts have blamed the cases reported to collapse the construction of the lack of compliance with the regulation and recklessness by the builders.
This was his submission at the IFE 2.0 architecture summit, at Obafemi Awolowo (Oau), Ile-Defe, Osun State.
The thematic summit “beyond construction: the future of architecture in Nigeria: the role of leadership, tutoring and education”, brought together architects, academics and students for impressive conversations about the future of architecture in Nigeria.
They argued that until the builders and regulators respect the codes and standards, we will continue to suffer the consequences. ”
The president of the Summit and the president of IFASA, favoring Oyakan, described architecture as “a force that agitates, speaks and serves”, while urging students to interact with the profession beyond technical design. The event had notable personalities, including ARC. Mobolaji Adeniyi, president of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA); Bow. OLUSEGUN LADEGA OF INTERESTATAL ARCHITECTS; and Professor Cordelia Osasona, the first female architecture professor at OAU.
Bow. Adeniyi applauded the relevance of the summit for national growth, praising the vice chancellor of Oau, Professor Simeon Bamire for supporting the initiative. Prof. Ad Jiboye, department head, also emphasized its value in inspiring academic and professional management for students.
In its opening, arc. Laderea warned also requested stronger supervision and public commitment to architecture professionals.
Professor Osasona, in a special session, addressed the genre -related struggles facing architecture students. She encouraged them to stay determined, take advantage of opportunities and demonstrate their value in an industry dominated by men.
The summit also saw the inauguration of the IFE Architecture Journal inaugural, a publication led by students edited by former IFASA president, Ojo-Nibkun Timothy. It was described as a milestone in promoting research led by students and architectural discourse.
Special honors were granted to the pioneer industry, including the arc. Adeniyi, arc. Ladtega, Prof. Osasona and Prof. Jiboye. IFASA also recognized the excellence of advice between the Faculty and the sponsors of the architectural essays of Prof. Bayo Amole, which granted the main essays of students of OAU and Lead City University.
Other Archiweek activities included a cleaning campaign with ploggingnigeria and a sporting event where Yellow House came out victorious. Praising the organizing team, Oyakan closed the summit with a message of transformation: “Let this day trigger something in our hearts, minds and work that moves us beyond construction.”
