2027: We are sending Tinubu back to Lagos- El- Rufai

The former governor of the state of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai, has declared that plans are being carried out to rough President Bola Tinubu and send him back to Lagos in the presidential elections of 2027.

Speaking on Wednesday in the second edition of the Arewa Tech Fest in Katsina, El-Rufai revealed that a coalition of opposition forces is being formed and actively working to rough the president.

He said: “They (the organizing team) had to come without me because yesterday (Tuesday) at 8 pm, there was a very important meeting of the coalition we are putting together to ensure that President Tinubu returns to Lagos.”

However, despite his firm Posture against Tinubu, El-Rufai praised the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, who serves under the current administration, saying that the minister would be held in the next government for his performance.

He said: “Although we will still keep Bosun Tijani, we will still keep the minister because he is doing a good job.”

Tribune Online reports that the former governor, Nasir El-Rufai, abandoned the ruler Congress of the Progressive (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in March 2025.

El-Rufai, who is a founding member of the APC, is now a key member of the opposition's SDP and works together with the former vice president and candidate of the Democratic Party of the peoples (PDP) in the presidential elections of 2023, Atiku Abubakar, to form a coalition of different political parties against President Tinubu in the presidential election of 2027.
