The letter, transmitted by the Director of the Department of Polytechnic Programs, NBTE, Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, also approved the Polytechnic to begin eight new academic programs, further expanding his academic portfolio in response to emerging national needs and global trends.
The newly approved programs are the following: Superior National Diploma (HND) in: Crime Management, Economics and Cooperative Management, Taxes, Cybersecurity and Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence, Strategic Communication and Media Studies, as well as film and multimedia production and National Diploma (ND) in: Urban and Regional Planning.
The NBTE, although it praised the Polytechnic's commitment to quality and innovation, also highlighted certain operational areas that will be addressed for the complete regularization of freshly introduced programs.
These include requirements in operational costs for departments, infrastructure and equipment, in which the institution is already working, in line with the NBTE standards.
The rector of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Sani Usman, described development as “a bold validation of the Polytechnic's capacity to offer a high quality technical and vocational education aligned with the development objectives of Nigeria and the best global practices.”
In addition, he pointed out that NBTE's complete accreditation reflects the institution's commitment to stay ahead of the curve in digital technology, media innovation, economic development and urban planning.
The complete NBTE accreditation is due to another visit for 2030, while newly approved programs must be accredited when the first set of students is in their fourth semester of studies.
