The Federal Government presented plans to train 365 Nigerian young people in car maintenance.
According to the Agreement, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction will coordinate and facilitate all logistics agreements for training, as will provide general coordination and monitoring support to ensure implementation without program problems. CIG Motors will provide freemark training.
The director of the Ministry of Press and Public Relations Unit, Mrs. Iliya Rhoda Ishaku, confirmed this in a statement made available to the humanitarian correspondents on Friday.
She said: “The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and Cig Motors Company Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to carry out a national training program for 365 Nigerian young people in car maintenance.

“The training will be carried out through the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, with training centers located in the following states: state of Lagos – Southwest; State of Enugu – Southeast; state of Akwa Ibom – South of the South; State of Plateau – North Central; State of Adamawa – North East; and Kaduna State – North West.
“The Mou was signed by the Honorable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and the president/CEO of Cig Motors Co. Limited, Chief Diana Chen, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the headquarters of the Ministry Ministry in Abuja.
“The terms of reference of the MOU include, among others, that the Ministry will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating all logistics agreements for training, together with general coordination and monitoring support to ensure implementation without problems. CIG Motors will provide free training for the Ministry or Federal Government of Nigeria.
“The Mou will last an initial period of five years, subject to an automatic renewal unless they are objections and renegotiated six months before the end of the term.
“The Ministry is responsible for implementing the 'Skill to the Federal Government' ability, whose objective is to provide training opportunities so that Nigerian young people and vulnerable people develop skills and obtain employment. As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative (CSR), CIG Motors is providing technical support and professional experience in the area of ​​training in automobile maintenance.
“The honorable minister praised Cig Motors for his free training initiative, which complements the efforts of the federal government in the acquisition of skills and the empowerment of young people. This is aligned with the renewed agenda of hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu focused on the creation of employment and the reduction of poverty,” he added.
