The head of the Federation Civil Service, Mrs. Didi Walsson-Jack, has expressed the determination of the federal government to review medical care policies to improve access to medical care for public officials in the country. Walson-Jack, announced this during a session on free medical check-ups for officials in Abuja as part of the activities to mark the week of the civil service during the weekend.
The service manager said that periodic medical controls were essential for public officials, considering the nature of their work.
Walson-Jack, represented by the permanent secretary, office of welfare of services, patience Oyakunle, said health is wealth.
She said: “Any person with good health will spend less money on hospital visits and will be more productive.”

He expressed satisfaction with the exercise, pointing out that the results of the tests were being delivered rapidly and medications were administered to the beneficiaries.
Oyakunle recognized the challenges faced by some officials to access drugs and adequate treatment under the scheme of the National Health Insurance Authority.
She emphasized the need for a policy review to address problems.
“These are politics problems. We need to return to the drawing table and find a reviewed policy frame. What we have is currently outdated, especially taking into account the increase in drug prices,” he said.
A beneficiary, Azeez champion, praised the perfect coordination of the program despite the large number of staff.
He said: “I urge those who are still in their offices to take advantage of this opportunity. Health is wealth. We have lost many staff members due to irregular check -ups.”
Another official, Eneh Benedict, said he came to collect the results of his tests after being tested earlier for the week.
She said: “I discovered that my blood pressure was high and did not know so far. They have given me medications and has already begun to improve.”
Using the sustainability of the initiative, Mrs. Benedict thanked the Head of Service for the gesture.
The deputy director of the Wellness Center, HCSF office, Dr. Longbap Dinfa, said the initiative was not limited to the HCSF staff, but that it extended to public officials.
He said that tests for hepatitis B and C, typhoid, malaria, blood pressure and diabetes, among others, were performed.
“We discovered several cases of non -diagnosed hepatitis, peptic ulcer and malaria tiphoides during the check. On Sunday, a woman who collapsed was treated quickly and is now stable,” he said.
Dinfa said that cases beyond their reach were referred to the National Hospital for specialist care and advised public officials to habit of regular medical controls.
