The Federal Government has distributed 10,000 professional kits to midwives from the southeast region as part of the efforts to promote the provision of maternal and child medical care in Nigeria.
The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, announced the distribution on Monday during a displacement event held at the International Conference Center in ENUGU.
The initiative, under the renewed agenda of Esperanza, is designed to empower first -line health workers and strengthen medical care services, especially in unattended areas.
Dr. Salako expressed her thanks to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the president, for her unwavering commitment to health initiatives, particularly when addressing tuberculosis, cervical cancer and HIV/AIDS. He described his support as fundamental for the current reforms in the nation's health system.
According to the minister, the distribution of theion kits will directly benefit 60,000 midwives, which covers about 40% of the country's registered midwives. “Each element in the kit that is being given today represents a commitment to the life, health and dignity of our women and children,” he said.
The kits are expected to improve the capacity of midwives to provide quality care, particularly in rural communities where access to medical care remains limited. The measure is part of the broader government efforts to stop high maternal mortality rates and children under five years in Nigeria.

The event attracted the assistance of several dignitaries, including the wife of the vice president, Hajia Nana Shettima, and the wives of state governors, which praised the government's commitment to improve the well -being of health professionals and reduce health disparities in all regions.
Dr. Salako also highlighted recent achievements under the Renewed Hope initiative, such as the establishment of new federal tertiary hospitals, the recruitment of medical care personnel and the execution of critical infrastructure projects in hospitals throughout the country.
The distribution of the ParterÃa Kit marks another step in the Federal Government strategy to improve the provision of primary medical care and build a resistant health system for all Nigerians.
