… says I’m in ‘Thank you visiting’ Tinubu

The governor of the state of Rivers, Siminalayi Fubara, declared peace with his predecessor and current Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, after a meeting behind closed doors with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday in the presidential town, Abuja.

Fubara, dressed in a white caftan and a black cap, arrived at the villa around 6:22 pm on his first official visit to the state’s house since his restitution as governor of Rivers, after an emergency rule of six months in the state.

Tribune online Reports that Tinubu raised the six -month suspension and the state of emergency in Rivers on September 18, 2025.

President Tinubu, in a national broadcast on March 18, declared an emergency state in the state, suspended Fubara, his deputy and members of the State Assembly Chamber, and appointed a single administrator to supervise his affairs.

Going to the journalists after the meeting, Governor Fubara said that his visit was mainly to thank the president and reaffirm his resumption of charge.

“You know that the suspension was raised on 17, and I entered the 19th. Ideally, it was appropriate for me to see Mr. President inform him that I have returned and that I have resumed my responsibilities as governor of the state of Rivers,” he said.

“It was simply a discussion of a father and son, thanking him and looking for his orientation on areas where problems may arise so that we will not find ourselves in any crisis situation.”

On the president’s comments, Fubara said: “He advised me what to do and the best way to advance in the government.”

When asked about his relationship with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, Fubara declared: “I don’t know what you mean with” Pape Paz “. As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace.

In his first speech after recovering his office, Fubara, who said that his decision not to dispute the emergency presidential statement in the state of Rivers was based on his conviction that no sacrifice was too great for peace in the state of Rivers, he was effusive in his praise to Tinubu.

He expressed a deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, for what he described as a “paternal intervention” that restored the complete democratic rule to the state of Rivers.

“The President negotiated peace during this period, and we all accept it, although not without the hard lessons learned, during the emergency rule,” he said.

Fubara said this in a state broadcast hours after returning to the State on Friday, September 19, 2025.

The governor, who promised to work harmoniously with the Chamber of the Assembly of the State of the Rivers to recover lost land and accelerate the progress of the social and economic development of the State, described the emergency period as one of the most challenging moments for the State.

He added that responsibility now falls on leaders to set aside personal interests and pursue the common good.

He also recognized the role of his political leader, former governor Nyesom Wike, together with the president of the Senate, the president of the House of Representatives and other interested parties to maintain peace.

Fubara’s visit occurred shortly after the president held separate meetings with the president of the Forum of Governors of Nigeria and the state governor of Kwara, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq; President of the Forum of Governors Progresive and the governor of the state of the IMO, Senator Hope Uzodimma; President of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Executive President of the Federal Internal Income Service (FIRS), Zacch Addeji; and the Minister of Finance and Minister Coordinator of the Economy, Wale Edun, among others.
