Gombe Govt moves to avoid the clash of farmers

In a proactive effort to maintain peace and avoid clashes, the Gombe State Government has quickly intervened after the accusations of invasion of cattle routes by some farmers of crops and counterflies of shepherds that destroy culture lands in the village of Kunji, Yamaltu-Deba Lga.

Through the Gombe State Ghilestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-Pre) project, the government immediately acted to address the matter and prevent it from becoming a complete crisis.

The coordinator of the L-Prepres state project, Professor Usman Bello Abubakar sent a special delegation of the State Coordination Office to join other interested parties to carry out an evaluation at the point.

The delegation, directed by the Project Social Safeguard Officer, the lawyer Naomi Abdu Mwalin, was accompanied by the Divisional Police officer (DPO), the Division Security Officer (DSO), the chief of the village and representatives of shepherds, including the state president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Chindo Ardo.

During the visit, the team inspected the alleged routes invaded and listened to complaints from both sides: the farmers accuse the shepherds of crops and the shepherds raised concerns about the restricted access to the grazing paths.

The joint delegation emphasized the peaceful coexistence and dialogue, reiterating that conflict prevention remains a priority of the administration led by INUWA and a central development objective of the L-Pre-project project.

The delegation decided to meet again with interested parties for more deliberations to find lasting solutions.

It is remembered that the Gombe state government, through L-PRES, is currently reasonsing, reallocation and rediscusing 37 cattle routes and 8 grazing reserves throughout the state. This initiative is designed to avoid farmers conflicts and strengthen agriculture as an engine of economic development.
