Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule

Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule condemned the assassination of the state chairman of the Congress of All Progressives (APC), Mr. Philip Shekwo, and described it as regrettable.

Let’s remember that Shekwo was kidnapped by armed men around 11 p.m. on Saturday from his residence in Bukan-Sidi, Lafia, as confirmed by the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Bola Longe.

The dead body of the deceased was found a few meters from his residence on Sunday and had been deposited in the morgue of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia.

The governor, in a statement issued Sunday by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Addra, said that the murder of the APC president came with great shock and bewilderment.

“I am personally traumatized by this gruesome and inhumane act that has left myself, members of Mr. Shekwo’s family, the APC family, and indeed all well-meaning people shattered.

“My prayers and thoughts go out to the family of the late Shekwo. He was a great husband, statesman, complete gentleman and loyal supporter, ”Sule said.

He assured the people of the state that the perpetrators of the vile act would be arrested and brought to justice, since the security agencies had begun investigations into the incident.

“This assassination has reinforced our determination to deploy all resources to fight crime and criminality and to protect our people and their property.

“I urge everyone to remain resilient, as we fight against those who are hell-bent on instilling fear in us and disrupting the peace that prevails in our state.

“We will not allow them and the Almighty will never allow them,” he added.

Longe said the police would not stand on their oars until the APC chief’s killers were found and brought to justice.
