Independent corrupt practices and other related crimes commissions (ICPC) have registered a notable milestone in institutional transparency, classifying the third place of more than 500 ministries, departments and agencies (MDA) evaluated in the transparency and integrity index of 2025 published by the Center for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CEFTPI).
According to the report published on Tuesday, ICPC achieved an impressive 78.13%score, placing it among the three most transparent and responsible government institutions of Nigeria.
This performance represents a historical jump for ICPC, which occupied the 19th position in index 2024 with a score of only 24%.
The dramatic increase of more than 50 percentage points highlights the strengthened internal systems of the Commission, the dissemination of proactive information and the commitment to the opening in line with the global standards of responsibility.
The Transparency and Integrity Index measures institutional compliance in five key variables: fiscal transparency, human acquisition, human resources and inclusion, corruption control and participation of citizens.
The strong action of ICPC in these areas demonstrates the resolution of the Commission to lead with the example in the Anti -Corruption Unit of Nigeria.
Observers point out that this leap sends a powerful message about institutional reforms, responsibility and renewed commitment of the commission to build public trust.
With this development, ICPC has established a new reference point for transparency between the public institutions of Nigeria, even more consolidating its role as the main anti -corruption agency in the country.
In his comments, the General Director of the Office of Public Services Reform (BPSR), Dr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, described the Transparency and Integrity Index (TII) as a vital instrument for responsibility and good governance in the public institutions of Nigeria.
He pointed out that the evaluation, over the years, has provided a reference point for reforms that strengthen governance and improve services.

According to him, the 2025 edition of the Index, carried out jointly with the Center for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CEFTPI), is aligned with the National Strategy for Public Services Reforms (NSPSR 2021-2025), the Law of Freedom of Information and the commitments of Nigeria under the Government’s oppid association.
Dr. Arabi emphasized that the index is more than numbers or classifications, but on the construction of a culture of openness and responsibility that encourages public trust, as contained in a statement signed by Demola Bakare, director, public illustration and education/spokesperson of the commission.
