The Kano state chapter of the new Popular Party of Nigeria (NNPP) has announced the expulsion of a legislator who represents the federal constituency of Kiru/Bebeji in the House of Representatives, Honorable Abdulmumin Jibrin Kafa, accusing him of antipartid activities and not fulfilling his financial obligations before the party.
He announced this, the president of NNPP in the state, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, while talking to the press on Saturday in Kano, said the decision followed the repeated outbreak of Jibrin’s media against the party and his leadership.
Dungurawa also accused Jibrin of breach of the payment of the mandatory fees of the party, promising that NNPP would institute legal actions to recover the funds.
In addition to the antiparty activities, the president of the party also claimed that he had not represented his constituency in terms of the execution of constituency projects.
Based on the various level accusations against him, Dungurawa said that he would not unite politically allow him to remain a member of the party, since doing so would further cover the image of the NNPP.
Dungurawa then described Jibrin as a “weak politician” whose electoral success was only possible through the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform, not personal strength.
He pointed out that “if it were really strong politically, he would have won his choice under the APC, but he failed. It was when he joined NNPP through Kwankwasiyya who became a member of the Reps camera. He is now deceiving himself, thinking he is strong.”
He added that initially a reconciliation committee had been established to involve Jibrin after his interview with Channels Television, but said that a later media output showed that he had crossed the line.
“Instead of a dialogue, he went further to work against our interests, openly declaring loyalty out of the party. That’s why we expel it. He has no value to add,” said the president.
Dungurawa also accused Jibrin of breach of the payment of the mandatory fees of the party, promising that NNPP would institute legal actions to recover the funds.
“We will drag it to the courts to recover what owes the party. It is a constitutional requirement that each member pays the quotas, but constantly has not done so,” he added.
When commenting on the speculations that Jibrin can return to the APC, Dungurawa said that such movement would not affect NNPP’s strength, and added that “politics are groups and coalitions” and Kwankwasiyya remains solidly behind its leader, Rabiu Muse Kwankwaso.
He stressed that Hon Jibrin has no basic support, but used the popularity and acceptability of the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to win the elections.
