…reveals program of activities
The Kano State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Friday kicked off its Press Week 2025 with a special prayer session held at the Union Secretariat.
The prayer, led by the respected Islamic scholar Malam Gwani Nasir, included the participation of the President of the Council, Comrade Suleiman Dederi; Vice President, Mustapha Gambo; and a large number of union members.
In his speech, Comrade Dederi said the session was both an expression of gratitude to Allah Almighty and a moment of reflection on the resilience, dedication and professional sacrifices made by journalists in Kano and across Nigeria.
He urged media professionals to remain committed to ethical journalism, uphold accuracy and accountability in their reporting, and continue to seek divine guidance for the progress of the union and the media industry at large.
Presenting the 2025 Press Week schedule, the President announced a series of engagements, including a courtesy visit to the psychiatric hospital and a novel football match between journalists and members of the Kano State House of Assembly.
Other activities include a capacity building workshop, the launch of the Kano Online office and an awards ceremony to honor outstanding journalists for their contributions to the profession.
Dederi encouraged the public and all journalists in the state to participate in the week-long events, noting that Press Week underscores the Council’s commitment to professionalism, excellence and institutional development.
