The Lagos State Police Command has said that no lives were lost from the accident involving two tanker trucks loaded with gasoline and a container that occurred at the Otedola bridge, along the Lagos / Ibadan highway in the early morning. of Saturday.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued on Saturday, said the accident occurred around 2.30 a.m. along the Lagos / Ibadan highway.

Adejobi said that the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, had visited the site for an on-site assessment and evacuation to facilitate the flow of traffic.

“His team was assisted by staff from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigerian Civil Defense and Security Corps (NSCDC), the Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA), the National Agency for Emergency Management (NEMA), the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire Service.

“They have been working assiduously on the evacuation since 2.30 a.m.,” the PPRO said.

According to Adejobi, preliminary findings show that the accident was caused by a container driver who lost control and collided with a tanker truck loaded with PMS and caught fire.

“No lives were lost and every effort is being made to ease traffic along the highway,” he said.
