The Governor of the State of Ebonyi, Francis Nwifuru, has reaffirmed his commitment to prioritize the well -being of workers, defend the dignity of the work and ensure that civil and public services systems are not only efficient but also reflect equity, productivity and innovation.
Nwifuru declared this on the occasion of the celebration of the 2025 Workers Day tagged: “claiming the civic space amid the difficulties of the economy.”

Nwifuru, who described workers as the basis of their government, public service promoters and vital force behind the daily implementation of government policies and programs, promised to prove all workers with 10,000 each to feed and transport.
He then urged workers to present their resilience, professionalism and durable spirit for the progress of statistics, insisting that under their surveillance, the civil service of the state of Ebonyi will be a symbol of excellence, integrity and envy of all.
“My dear workers, on this auspicious occasion of Workers Day 2025, I bring you warm greetings, sincere congratulations and my deep appreciation for their implacable dedication, tireless commitment and immense contributions to the growth and development of our beloved state.
“Today is a day to celebrate it, to reflect on its contributions and the sacrifices that it makes daily to grease the wheel of governance in the state of Ebonyi and Nigeria in general. And thus, this day we stop celebrating it, as the basis of our governance, the promoters of the public service and the vital force behind the daily implementation of government policies and programs.
“Presenting their resilience, professionalism and durable spirit continue to inspire the collective progress of the state of Ebonyi, it is in fact declare the obvious and I am proudly as its service leader, deeply grateful for their service. As its governor, I remain resolved in my commitment to prioritize their well -being, domain, dignity of the labor and guarantee that civil and public systems are only of service, but only the reflection. Agenda of the letter of the needs of our people, we are committed to generating a work environment that allows it to prosper, grow and offer a quality service to the people of the Ebonyi state.
“The position that occupies me to a point of view in which all events attract my attention because of the necessary action, in fact, all the dollars stop at my table. That is why I said that I understand the challenges it faces and assure you that this administration focuses on addressing them in front.
“As everyone knows, we have already taken concrete measures to improve rapid salary payments, expand opportunities for capacities development and provide favorable work spaces and review obsolete administrative structures. These efforts are not only just promises, they are responsibilities that we are actively executing. This, can agree, will reduce the risks of running to process their retirement and bottlenecks.
“Similarly, our administration is Stickler of Excellence and will continue to seek advance based on merit, continuous training and a digital transformation of the provision of services.
“We are also looking for a rewards system to guarantee excellence, punctuality and the high professional of the duties assigned by any worker is publicly appreciated and rewarded in accordance to encourage others as we collectively aspire for excellence in the civil service of the Ebonyi state. Therefore, no worker will not be left behind, and each contribution will be valued and rewarded.
“My dear workers, as we continue to ensure a quick payment of salaries that I am quite sure that they have been paid, the April salary last week, urges all the workers of our ministries, departments and agencies to reward by ensuring that you continue to release their duties with the passion, integrity and professionalism that our people deserve. As a model of development, prosperity and good governance,” he said
However, in a joint direction presented by the president of the NLC, Professor Ogugua Egwu and Mr. Chidi Igboji of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) praised the governor for the generosity of Christmas, including the implementation of the minimum salary N75, 000.
They appeal even more to the governor to help them address some of the challenges that workers face while discharging their duties, including “transport challenges (provision of more CNG buses for workers) 2. Housing challenge (provision of more housing properties for workers). Increased retiree pension as it can be obtained in other parts of the country.
“Equipo government offices in the restoration of the city of the centenary of massive license subsidy with the release of the new national minimum wage, 2024.
“Restoring the complete salary of the Ebonyi State College of Education Ikwo staff. An additional monthly release of twenty -five millions of Naira would only solve this problem. Your excellence Lord, these problems we believe can be handled with their touch of Midas and Sir 、 、 、 、 、 、
“We use this medium to thank you for directing immediate retirement at Ebonyi State University (EBSU), from comrade Ikechuku Igwenyi and CO after three (3) years of suffering unfair suspension of work for trade union activities.
“This noble gesture will continue to be golden in our hearts. We also thank you immensely for granting our request for the implication of adjustment costs consistent with a substantial progression that will be included in the 2025 budget.
“The advice of NLC and TUC will remain grateful for the unprecedented human capital and the infrastructure blessings that have brought Ebonyi people in less than two years.
“In fact, Ebonyi workers celebrate you and will continue to celebrate for accepting all my hearts to improve our well -being in all aspects.
“We will continue to be partners in the progress of enthroneing the rights of workers and ensuring that the civic space in the state of Ebonyi and Nigeria as a whole is attractive and progressive for all.”
