The actress and activist of Nollywood, Iyabo Eye, has expressed concern about her safety, claiming that her defense of justice in the death of singer Ilerioluwa Alaba, popularly known as Mohbad, has now put her life and that of her family in danger.

In a public statement published through its verified page of Instagram, Eye revealed that she has been subject to intimidation, cyberbullying and threats since she publicly demanded responsibility in the case of the deceased singer.

“Therefore, it is not surprising to see now coffins registered with my name, barefoot videos that threaten my life and properties, and additional confirmation that my family and companies remain in danger of extinction,” he wrote.

His statement is produced following his invitation by the National Center for Cybercrime of the Nigeria Police force, after requests on a live video he recorded years ago in which he asked certain people to be presented in relation to the death of Mohbad.

Eye clarified that his intention was never to accuse any specific individual, but to seek truth and justice through the appropriate legal channels.

“I never said that Mohbad's death was caused by any specific individual. Otherwise, he would not have taken the legal and investigative actions I did,” he said.

He added that he had written to several government authorities, including the governor, the State Attorney General and the Police Inspector, through his non -governmental organization, the Pinkies Foundation, requesting an independent investigation and forensic investigation.

As part of her defense, the actress revealed that she also met with the senior security officials, including the late Mr. Ayila, the then attached commissioner of the Department of Research and Intelligence of the State of the State of Lagos, and members of the Chamber of the Assembly of the State of Lagos to emphasize the urgency of an exhaustive investigation.

However, the sequels of their activism have been turbulent. According to Eye, she and her children have faced implacable public attacks and threats.

“Certain people, over the years, have constantly requested my fall, the destruction of my source of livelihood, and have prompted public violence against me and my children, all without any intervention of the authorities,” he lamented.

One of the most worrying revelations in his statement was the receipt of a threatening letter a few days before his daughter's wedding in Tanzania.

“The letter explicitly declared that it would go through hell in the next three months,” he said, adding that the moment was emotionally distressing for her and her family.

Eye also revealed that his office was recently destroyed in a fire, which further aggravated the pressure and trauma to which he has been subjected.

Although he stopped directly linking the fire with threats, he emphasized that he now requires time to heal and recover emotional stability.

In defending his actions, Eye insisted that his only crime defended what he thought was a case of injustice. “I want to clarify that I never accused anyone of being responsible for Mohbad's death. I was simply emotionally reacting to disturbing videos and using my platform to ask for justice,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Eye insisted that she remained challenging in her search for justice and truth. “I am completely ready to continue honoring more invitation or reading of police charges, as I have done in the past, without fear,” he said.

He also extended gratitude to his fans, friends and family who have supported her in these difficult times.

The death of Mohbad, 27, in September 2023 caused national outrage, with many Nigerians asking for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
