Nigerian content creator and streamer Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel aka Shank Comics has addressed the backlash he faced after sharing the qualities he admires in Sean John Combs, popularly known as Sean Diddy on social media.

The content creator posted on his X account on Monday to clarify his previous statement, calling it irresponsible.

Shank also noted that he believes Diddy’s victims deserve justice and described the crimes he was convicted of as unacceptable in both society and the entertainment industry.

“To clear up any misunderstanding: my post about Diddy was a misguided attempt to reference a villain in a “movie” and was irresponsible. To be absolutely clear, I do not admire, support or defend him in any way. The accusations against him are horrible and he deserves all the consequences that come from them. What he has been accused of (and convicted of) is unacceptable and has no place in our industry or anywhere else. The victims deserve justice. I am committed to doing better and using my platform responsibly,” he wrote.

Tribune Online reports that American rapper and singer Sean Diddy was sentenced in October to 50 months in prison following a conviction for two prostitution-related crimes.

Federal prosecutors had asked for at least 11 years in prison, while his defense team asked for no more than 14 months.

In reading his sentence, Judge Arun Subramanian acknowledged Combs’ business success and impact on the Black community, noting, “I have considered the fact that you are a self-made artist and businessman who has inspired and uplifted communities. Your work history, your impact on the Black community, and your entrepreneurial spirit are celebrated and emblematic.”

However, he noted that “a history of good deeds cannot erase the record in this case,” Subramanian said. “You used that abuse to get your way, especially when it came to ‘freaking out’ and hotel nights. This was subjugation, and it led both Ms. Ventura and Jane to think about ending their lives. That’s the reality of what happened.”
