Nigerian armed forces troops, backed by hybrid forces and other security agencies, are intensifying offensive operations in all combat theaters to ensure cultivation land and create safe runners for agricultural activities. The director of defense media, Major General Markus Kangye, revealed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja. He said that the renewed impulse is intended to allow farmers to contribute significantly to food production and, by extension, the achievement of food security, in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu.
Kangye emphasized that, under the leadership of General Christopher Musa, the Armed Forces are not negotiating the security of the nation or the well -being of their staff, which remain determined and committed to defending the territorial integrity, the national interest and the citizens of Nigeria against all threats.
“As part of their mandate, the military launched several key operations during the week with a renewed vigor aimed at combating insurgency, terrorism and other forms of criminal activities that threaten our communities,” he said. “These operations are strategically designed and executed to guarantee the security of our people and the restoration of peace in the affected regions.”
Providing an update on the operations carried out between May 8 and 15, Kangye highlighted the destruction of multiple terrorist camps, the rescue of kidnapped victims and the continuous rehabilitation of civilians affected by the conflict. He praised the troops to demonstrate exceptional courage and professionalism, and also recognized the vital support of local communities in intelligence collection.
Kangye also revealed that the troops eliminated several terrorists and arrested two extremist informants and logistics suppliers, identified as Zakari Abubakar and Aliyu Musa, in the areas of the local government of Sulaja and Borgu of the state of Niger. In addition, a messaging of ammunition, Rufai Abdullahi, was intercepted and detained in the Gwagwalada area of ​​the territory of the Federal Capital.
“The items recovered within the period under review include ammunition, money, local manufacturing weapons and motorcycles. Other recovered items were, pumping machines, drilling machines, tricycles, mobile phones and vehicles,” he said.
In Northeast, Kangye said the troops of operation Hadin Kai killed dozens of terrorists during combat patrols, raids and authorization operations in Mata, Dikwa, Gwoza and the areas of the local government of Born. He said that the operation also led to the rescue of 17 kidnapped victims, as well as the recovery of weapons and some amounts of varied ammunition, as well as hand grenades and additional magazines.
In the northwest, Kangye said that the troops of Operation Fansan Yamma killed dozens of terrorists and rescued 129 victims in the states of Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara in the week.
In the Niger Delta, he said that the troops of Operation Delta Safe Fouted Off for a value of more than N103 million, comprising 68,875 liters of stolen crude oil, 31,166 liters of illegally refined refined automotive gas oil (Aug) and 2,250 liters of double purpose kerosene (DPK). He added that the troops discovered and destroyed 16 crude oil cooking ovens, 31 shelter wells, 19 ships, 34 storage tanks, 79 drums and 18 illegal refining sites.
