Nigerian rapper and singer, Chinko Ekun, known for his explosive 2018 “Capac God”, has opened on one of the darkest chapters of his life.
In a recent interview with Chudeity, the artist reported how it became a spiral of fame that headed fame in depression and despair, so much that it was standing on the edge of the ocean, threatening God and contemplating suicide.
Chinko Ekun's rise to fame was as fast as sensational. “Capible God” was not just a success: it became a hymn, a cultural moment and a soundtrack of street triumph.
The song earned him the generalized acclamation and the Best Street-Hop Artiste Award in The Headies 2019. But under the center of attention and cheers, Chinko's life was on a tick watch.
“I never imagined that God would fly as he did,” he admitted. “I was only expressing me. And then, Boom, I was everywhere.”
But a few years after success, the applause vanished, the calls stopped arriving and the lifestyle that once enjoyed disappeared.
The unbalanced began with a change in management. Chinko left a lake -based seal in the hope of a better deal with a Dubai -based record company.
Unfortunately, that bet was not worth it. “The agreement failed. Everything I expected to build,” he said.
To make things worse, he was the victim of a fraudulent investment scheme that exhausted his savings. The final blow came when his romantic relationship collapsed.
“I lost my deal. I lost my money. Then I lost love,” Chinko revealed. “Everything collapsed at once.”

At its lowest point, he found himself wandering to Electushi's beach in Lagos. “I threatened God. I said: 'If you don't do something, I will bow to another God.'” He paused, telling the surrealist moment. “And then he told me something: 'jump into the water'.”
Chinko admitted that he had never felt so close to the edge, and that the voice that urged him to jump was too real. “I was not just talking. I said it seriously. I was ready to finish everything,” he said.
But he didn't jump. Somehow, something prevented him from taking that final step. A few months after that encounter, the tides began to change. He began to receive show offers again. Two support agreements arrived. He found a new apartment and bought a car, griactically, the same model as he lost.
“I realized that God was silent, not absent,” Chinko reflected. “Sometimes he just looks to see how you handle your breakdown.”
Now he focuses on the conscience of mental health and the use of his platform to inspire others, the rapper encourages people, especially men, to speak and seek help during emotional agitation. “Pride will not save you. Faith and honesty will do it,” he said.
