The Director General/CEO of the National Council of Automotive Design and Development (NADDC), Oluwemimo Osanipin, has declared that achieving the development plan of the automotive industry (NAIDP) and its desired results require careful initiation, recommendation, supervision and regulation of policies and programs for promoting vehicles and local manufacturing components.
According to him, the collective trip towards the formulation of the most effective strategies for this implementation requires deliberations on the general mandate of the NADDC.
The general director made this statement during the commitment of the interested parties with the Association of Distributors of Nigeria (AMDON) engines on the regulation of cars and the concessionaires used in Nigeria, held at the Ceedapeg Hotel, UYO, Wednesday. He stressed that the central mission of the NAIDP is to revitalize and promote the solid growth of the Nigerian automotive sector.
*”This effort is fundamental, considering the deep multiplier effects that it has on our economy, which extends from generating employment and developing local capacity to improving infrastructure and conservation of our foreign reserves.
“Our ultimate goal in NADDC is to cultivate an enabling environment where international standards vehicles manufactured in Nigeria can occur at competitive prices, using our abundant local human and material resources, thus positioning Nigeria as a nation of leading automotive manufacturing worldwide.”
Osanipin emphasized that the central mandate of the Council is the imperative to regulate motor traffickers. This regulation is not simply a formality, but is crucial for several fundamental reasons, including the guarantee of the safety and environmental solidity of vehicles that circulate within the market.
*”In addition, it actively combats the illicit trade of smuggling vehicles, injured, flooded and aged, and crucially addresses the detrimental impact that unregulated used vehicles can have in human life, our national economy and the environment.
“In effectively regulating motor merchants, the Council undertakes to safeguard public safety, protect the environment and promote a sustainable and responsible automotive market for all Nigerians.”*
In addition, he stressed that Executive Order 005 is a testimony of NADDC's commitment, which requires governmental automobile sponsorship gathered by all ministries, departments and agencies (MDA).
*”This sponsorship is not just a policy; it is a vital pillar for the success and sustained growth of our local automotive industry. To guarantee compliance and solidly support this industry, it is essential that engines merchants register and operate within a well -defined and regulated framework.
“In addition, to really benefit from this government sponsorship, motor merchants must prioritize supply vehicles exclusively from local manufacturers and assemblies.
“While we look to the future, explore new market segments, such as GNC vehicles, electric vehicles and commercial fleets, it becomes essential.
“Simultaneously, we must mitigate the risks posed by non -road vehicles in the market. The registration of motor merchants is a necessary step in this evolution, since it creates the fundamental basic environment so that our automotive sector not only survives but really thrives and innove”. **
Concluding his address, Osanipin reaffirmed Naddc's firm commitment to direct this transformative trip, with the ultimate goal of promoting sustainable growth and integral development within the automotive sector of Nigeria.
