Edo Govt assures professionals of traditional medicine of effective collaboration

The Government of the State of Edo has assured professionals of traditional medicine in the state of their fruitful collaboration to provide qualitative health services to people.

Speaking at the interested party meeting of the Traditional Medicine Board of the State of Edo (ETB), Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, health commissioner of Edo State, said that when modern and traditional knowledge is combined, the result will be better health services for people.

Oshiomhole said that traditional medicine is an important part of the Edo health system, and that the state government is interested in associating with traditional medicine professionals. Consequently, he has resolved to train them, register and prove them.

“To work together, we are going to register and prove the professionals of traditional medicine in EDO for easy identification and better labor relations with the state government.

We are going to train it (traditional medicine professionals) on how to maintain safe delivery, handle emergency situations and when to make a reference to the hospital, ”he said.

He revealed that the administration of the governor on Monday Okpebholo recently distributed ultrasound machines to health centers in the 18 areas of the local government.

“The state government Edo under the leadership of the senator on Monday Okpebholo is renewing the health system in EDO through the distribution of ultrasound machines to health centers in the 18 areas of the local government in the state.

We have begun free test and treatment in all hospitals owned by the government throughout the State; We have a fixed intensive care unit (ICU) at the Edo Specialists hospital with world -class teams, ”added Oshiomhole.

In his welcome speech, the president of the Board of Traditional Medicine of Edo, the high head of Abdu Ugbesia Anthony, said that the meeting of interested parties was convened to draw the way to follow.

“By renewing the Traditional Medicine Board of the State of Edo, the meeting of interested parties of this nature will come from time to time, so that we can make a rain of ideas about progress.

In view of the above, we all have a lot to do to reposition the Board. Therefore, I invite you to do everything you can, in the change of the brand of shops, such as the people who restore the patients back to health, ”he said.

The Chief UGBESIA explained that the vision of the Board aims to create an enable and regulated environment for the provision of traditional, complementary and alternative medical services in order to promote and achieve a universal health coverage in EDO.

He added that his mission is to “regulate and effectively control the training and practice of traditional, complementary and alternative medicine professionals in the state through capacities development.”

Delivering his conference entitled “Indigenous Medicine and Cultural Practices in contemporary times in the state of Edo: a call to synergy”, Professor Matthew Izibili said that the importance of traditional medicine in society cannot be excessive.

However, he pointed out that despite its many benefits, indigenous medicine continues to face several challenges in contemporary times and asked for adequate synergy among interested parties.
