The Director-General of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Samuel Ogbuku, has disassociated himself from a recent media report attributing his rumored arrest to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri.
Ogbuku, in a statement by his media aide, Dr. Willie Erin, condemned the report attributed to a former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which hinted at a rift between him and the governor, warning that there is no rivalry in the APC family in Bayelsa State.
The statement read in part: “It is also important to clarify that any comments or opinions expressed by any person on political matters in Bayelsa State should be considered strictly as their personal views and not as a representation of the views or position of Dr. Ogbuku.
“The attempt to link the governor to political controversies or arrest rumors is misleading, mischievous and unnecessary.
“We wish to use this medium to express our sincere apology for any embarrassment the posts may have caused the governor and ask all party faithful to exercise restraint in public comments, especially when such comments may mislead the public or misrepresent the facts.”
