The UPSTREAM Nigeria Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) said that the Nigerian upstream oil sector recorded a year -on -year increase in production, averaging 1.63 million barrels per day (BPD) of crude oil and condensed in August in August 2025, compared to 1.58 million BOPD in the same period last year.
A statement by the head of NUPRC, media and strategic communications, Eniola Akinkouot, said that this is based on the production of crude and condensate oil for August 2025, published by the commission during the weekend.
A breakdown of the production of August 2025 comprises 1.43 million BPD of crude oil, which grew by 5.47 percent compared to August last year, which recorded a daily average of crude oil of 1.36 million BPD. This reflects a constant recovery and better operational performance throughout the industry.
The daily condensate production in August was located in 197,229 BPD, which reflects a slight decrease of 220,435 BPD in August 2024.
In particular, Nigerian crude oil production in August fulfilled 96 percent of its OPEC share, which is established at 1.5 million BOPD. This demonstrates the country’s ability to meet its production objectives under the OPEC agreement.
About a month by month, there was a slight fall of 4.7 percent in the combined production of crude and condensate oil of 1.71 million BOPD in July. Similarly, crude oil production itself decreased by 4.8%, below 1.5 million BOPD in July 2025.
The fall of one month to month was conducted by unchanging maintenance of a single day in an oil installation.
In the month of August, the production of crude oil and lower combined and peak condensate was 1.59 million BOPD and 1.85 million BOPD respectively.

In the review month, Terminal Forcados exceeded production lists, delivering a total of 8.99 million barrels, including 8.08 million barrels of crude oil and 915.2k condensate barrels.
Following closely the Bonny Terminal, which produced 6.26 million combined barrels, which consists of 5.8 million barrels of crude and 418.27k condensate barrels.
QUA IBOE Terminal registered a total of 4.99 million barrels, with 4.94 million barrels of crude oil and 50.5K condensate barrels. The written oil terminal also made a solid contribution, producing 4.18 million barrels, composed of 4.08 million barrels of crude oil and 107k condensate barrels.
