President Bola Tinubu on Sunday declared that Nigeria needs patriotic leaders and citizens whose commitment to national development transcends personal interests and self-aggrandizement.
​Tinubu, who spoke at St. Monica’s Cathedral of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, LCCN, Jimeta, Yola, in Adamawa, during a thanksgiving service organized to commemorate the 70th birthday of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Dr. Boss Mustapha.
​Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the President called on both public officials and citizens to embrace devotion to the public good as a core value.

​In his words: “Nigeria needs men and women who value what transcends personal interest, but rather devotion to public service.
“Today is first and foremost a day of thanksgiving. We gather not only to celebrate the passage of seven decades, but also to celebrate the faithfulness of God, who has preserved and sustained Chief Mustapha throughout the various stages of life.”
​Also speaking at the event, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the septuagenarian as a benchmark for public service integrity, while advocating for unity among political leaders in the Middle Belt region.
​Similarly, Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, commended the former SGF for his contributions to nation building and the steadfastness he has shown in public governance..
