the nigerian army said his troops intercepted a vehicle loaded with explosive devices, weapons and ammunition in Obudu on Tuesday, Cross River State.

Army spokesman Onyema Nwachukwu revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Nwachukwu, a brigadier general, said troops found the explosive devices in a Toyota Camry with registration number JAL 492 AA.

However, he did not provide the identity or the number of people involved in the incident.

“Troops from the 13th Brigade operating under the command of the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday June 21, 2022 intercepted a Toyota Camry car with registration number JAL 492 AA, loaded with a variety of ammunition while it was on its way to the Utanga village towards the Obudu mountains in Cross River State. ”, the statement said.

“Troops deployed at Forward Operating Base Amana attempted to stop the vehicle at their checkpoint, but the driver evaded the check and drove away. The driver’s obstinacy forced the troops to open fire on the vehicle’s tires, immobilizing it.

“A thorough search of the vehicle revealed that it was carrying 72 improvised explosive device clips, 121 liquid dynamites, 200 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) and 82 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.”

The military said military uniforms and kits were also recovered from the car.
