Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has emphasized the transforming role of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization to revolutionize safety and labor well -being practices throughout the country.
The fund, therefore, charged work employers to adopt the trend.
Speaking in the Occupational Health and Safety Forum (OSH) held in the commemoration of World Day 2025 for Safety and Health at Work, interested parties: the representatives of the National Assembly, the Nigerian Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Advisory Association of Employers of Nigeria (NECA) declared that technology now plays a pervotal role in the creation of more intelligent, safest, safer and more receptive working paper.
“We are in a crucial moment for occupational health and safety,” said Mr. Oluwaseun Faleyez, NSITF managing director. In his opening speech, he described the integration of AI in the workplace systems as “a change of play.”
“The predictive analysis with AI, real -time monitoring systems and digitized security management platforms are revolutionizing our ability to predict, prevent and respond to possible workplace risks.
“These technologies have trained users to proactively identify risks, mitigate potential hazards and, ultimately, create safer work environments for all if they take advantage of positively.”
Faleye emphasized the growing influence of technology beyond physical safety, extending towards labor well -being and mental health support.
“With digital tools, organizations can now implement comprehensive welfare programs, provide mental health support and promote a culture of well -being among employees.”
However, he warned that these innovations must coincide with the responsibility and development of capacities.
“It is imperative that we recognize the need for continuous learning and adaptation. The integration of AI demands a workforce equipped with the necessary skills to use these tools effectively. It is also important to guarantee compliance, ethics and technological security frameworks.”
Excmo Mojisolaoluwa Kehinde Alli-Macaulay, Executive Director of Operations of NSITF, further anchored the message of collective responsibility and empowerment in his welcome speech.
“This forum is perfectly aligned with our mandate under the Law of Compensation of Employees to prevent injuries, disabilities and deaths in the workplace.
“Our theme today, 'Revolution of health and safety: the role of AI and digitalization' is timely and visionary. We meet here to share knowledge, address challenges and explore the future impact of AI on occupational safety.”
He praised Osh's professionals for their resilience and asked interested parties to commit to develop capacity.
“We understand the vital role that OSH professionals play in the safeguarding of workers' well -being, and we are dedicated to support their growth and development.”
Alli-Macaulay also recognized the managing director of NSITF and the planning team for their contributions, adding: “As we join today, we explore opportunities for collaboration so that our workplaces are not only safer but also more innovative.”
Representing the organized labor movement, Comrade Esther Asebe Ahmadu, president of the TUC Women's Commission, delivered comments on behalf of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and its General President, Comrade Eng. Festus Osifo. She affirmed the support of work for the responsible integration of AI and digital tools in security frames.
“We celebrate the transforming power of technology in the creation of safer and healthy workplaces. Analysis, security devices and predictive risk modeling promoted by AI are remodeling the way we identify and mitigate the dangers.”
However, Ahmadu warned that technology should never replace human -centered security approaches.
“Remember that technology must complement, not replace, our commitment to security practices focused on human being. Each worker deserves a safe and healthy environment.”
She made a strong call to action: “We must take advantage of AI and digital tools to predict and prevent risks in the workplace. We must invest in training to ensure that workers and professionals can use these technologies effectively. And, above all, we must encourage a culture of security where innovation and human health work in hand.”
