The president of the speakers conference in Nigeria and speaker of the House of the Oyo State Assembly, Rt. Excmo Adebo Ogundoyin has expressed its support for the creation of the State of Ibadan, as agitated by the interested parties.
He also reiterated the position of the speaker conference on the creation of the State Police to address the reported cases of insurgency throughout the country.
Ogundoyin, talking about the creation of the state of Ibadan, made submission while appearing on a monthly guest platform of the Oyo State Transmission Corporation (BCOS) in Ibadan on Tuesday.
He affirmed that there is a bond of Unit of Agelong between Ibadan and Ibarapa.
Ogundyin added that people who are agitated by the creation of more states in the Federation should always think about the economic viability of such agitated states.
His submission, “we are stronger than divided, people who are stirred by the new 18 states, sharing the national cake without talking about productivity.
“Ibarapa, we are not talking about being a state. According to what I know, there is no separation between Ibarapa de Ibadan, since my late Dad also worked tirelessly with the people of Ibadan.
“What we expect is the end of IIDO-Eruwa Road, which the governor has promised to commission in the next 11 months.”
He said that Ibarapa is playing his role, since they have produced three institutions such as Adeseun Ogondoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate and Igboora College of Education.
The speaker also reaffirmed the importance of the State Police in the country.
He said it's time for the country to have the state police.
According to him, he said that the speakers conference is stirring for it, saying that they have to follow the steps of Amotekun.
He said Amotekun has achieved enormous achievements in recent years in terms of safety and stability in Nigeria.
“It's time for us to have the State Police. You can see the result of Amotekun, and as president of the speakers conference, I can say that this is what we are stirring,” he said.
The speaker also supported the Governor of the State of Oyo on the issue of a period of six years for the elected officers.
“I agreed with Governor Seyi Makinde in the unique term of six years of the Executive Order because there will be less distractions, and the people who have appropriate plans will deliver within that period of six years and a period for the chosen officers.
