The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, on Friday made the official start -up of the Mother and Child Hospital of the capacity of 100 beds in Gombe.
The hospital, appointed in his honor, is part of the government’s efforts through the president’s Senior Senior Assistant Office on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to strengthen the medical care infrastructure.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Tinubu “has opened the doors to life, hope and a brighter future for the women and children of Gombe and beyond.”
He stressed that maternal and child health remains in the heart of the renewed hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who seeks to ensure that each Nigerian child has a healthy beginning in life.
“I think this installation will provide quality health services, reduce maternal and child mortality and generate relief to innumerable families,” said the first lady.
He expressed a deep gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, his wife Hajiya Astma’u and the people of Gombe to appoint the hospital after it, praising the governor’s sustained commitment to the development of health.
The president’s special assistant of the president in the SDGs, Princess Adejoke Ollope-Deefulire, in his comments, said the project supports Nigeria’s commitment to achieve the UN sustainable development objectives, particularly the objective 3 that focuses on good health and well-being.
The inauguration was attended by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, his wife, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare Coordinator, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate and other dignitaries.
