Adelami, former Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly, is from Owo, the same hometown of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

His appointment is believed to be in line with the push by political leaders in the Northern Senatorial Zone to appoint a Deputy Governor of Owo in honor of the late Akeredolu.

His name has been sent to the state House of Assembly for confirmation and announcement.

After completing the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in June 1983, the young Adelami enlisted in the Federal Civil Service as an Accountant II in December 1983. He resumed his duties in the Treasury Department of the Accountant General of the Federation. and in 1988, he was subsequently posted to the Provisional Office of the National Assembly, Abuja, as a member of the pioneer staff of the Constituent Assembly, which metamorphosed into the present National Assembly.

In the line of duty, Mr. Adelami had the singular privilege of establishing the Finance and Accounts department of the National Assembly as it is now known.

In 1996, he was invited to assist in the creation of the Accounts Department of the Special Petroleum Trust Fund. After completing these tasks, he was also called to work at the Family Support Trust Fund, where he, again, helped establish the Finance and Accounts department. He headed these departments between 1996 and 2000. It is noteworthy that the Abuja National Hospital project was executed and delivered during Adelami’s period of service.

His excellent performances, years of experience and reputation as an astute manager of resources with enviable integrity saw Mr. Adelami called to the National Assembly in 2000 to strengthen the Finance department. Three years later, he assumed the position of Head of the Finance and Accounting Department. He remained in this position until 2007 when he was confirmed as Director. The following year, he was nominated for a one-year senior management course at the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

After completing his course at the Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in 2008, he was given the most important task of pioneering the newly created Department of Procurement and Supply. Without a single staff trained in the procurement processes, Mr. Adelami embarked on the rigorous staff training process and took the department to an enviable position.
