The Labor Party in Oyo State on Saturday held a peaceful state congress, producing newly elected executive members and issuing a fresh call for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The congress, which commenced on December 2 in all districts and local government areas, concluded on December 6 at the Labor Party Secretariat, Molete, Ibadan, where delegates from all 33 local governments participated in the exercise, resulting in a new leadership for the party.

After the exercise, the state president of the party, Alhaji Tunji Sadiq Atayese, praised the members for their dedication and support.

He noted that the newly elected executive team will drive more people-centric political engagement across Oyo State, working to ensure the success of the party in future elections, both nationally and within the state.

Atayese also reiterated the party’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity and providing a platform where competent and visionary leaders can emerge.

He expressed his gratitude to all observers, security agencies, INEC officials and party stakeholders whose contributions ensured a smooth, credible and well-coordinated congress.

However, the state chairman of the party reaffirmed his commitment to represent and defend the best interests of the people of Oyo State and Nigeria.

In his brief remarks, the party’s Public Relations Officer, Femi Emmanuel, noted that the peaceful conduct of the congress further reflects the growing unity and renewed strength of the party as it prepares for the 2027 electoral cycle.
