The Association of Outlet owners of Nigeria (Petroan) of Petroleum Products has praised the Executive Director of the National Group of Nigeria Petroleum Corporation Limited, Eng Bayo Ojulari, for initiating the process of reliving the Refinery of Port Harcourt through an evaluation of the plant for a potential private company under the model of technical association and equity (T & e).
The group, in a statement on Saturday, said the T&E model had proven effective in the Nigerian Nigerian natural gas (NLNG).
“With the evaluation contract granted to UOP, an international renowned firm demonstrates a commitment to make the refinery work.
“Petroan expressed his appreciation for the decision to involve a technical partner to evaluate the condition of the plant, allowing informed decision making by possible investors.
“This development indicates a positive step to restore the functionality of the refinery,” he said.
Petroan’s National Public Relations Officer, Dr. Joseph Obele, said the group firmly supported its adoption for the Port Harcourt refinery, trusting that it would bring effective effectiveness and efficiency.
The National President of Petroan, Dr. Billy Gillis Harry, also expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and vision by promoting initiatives that will boost the economy of the nation and improve energy security.
“We also thank you for your commitment to the development of infrastructure, particularly continuous efforts to fix the Eleme Express Road, a critical route for trucks that transmit oil products of the refinery.
“The operationalization of the refinery will serve as a price verification mechanism, providing a vital safeguard against any monopoly form in the posterior sector of Nigeria.
“We believe that this will generate the necessary benefits for interested parties, host communities, retailers and consumers by promoting competitive prices and preventing unfair market practices,” he said.
The president advocated that the refinery reactivation process is transparent, accelerated and devoid of political interference.
“In addition, we urge that good reputation companies are a fair consideration in the association process.
“We expect the successful completion of this initiative and believe that it will boost the local economy and improve the availability of the oil product,” said the group’s statement.
