President of the House of Representatives, Excmo. Tajudeen Abbas, has established the Committee of the Conference on Fiscal Reform invoices.
The Conference Committee, chaired by Hon. James Abiodun Faleke is expected to interact with the Conference Committee created by the president of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Remember that the Chamber had spent on March 18, 2025 through the third reading of the four projects of tax reform.
They are: Nigeria tax bill, 2025; Nigeria Tax Administration bill, 2025; NIGERIA INCOME SERVICE ESTABLISHMENT PROJECT, 2925, and the Board of Establishment of the Joint Revenue Board, 2025.
Confirming this, the president of the Committee of Media and Public Affairs of the House of Representatives, the representative Akin Rotimi said: “On Tuesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the Chamber announced specific changes to the leadership of the permanent committees.
“These strategic adjustments aim to improve parliamentary supervision in the areas of regional development, environment, African integration and public requests.
“In a proactive legislative movement, the Chamber also constituted a committee of the Conference on Fiscal Reform Law, chaired by representative James Faleke (APC, Lagos).
“This follows the successful approval of the four critical fiscal reform bills on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 for the Chamber.
“These decisions exemplify the commitment of the Chamber to legislative excellence and its resolution to offer coherent and unified fiscal legislation that supports Nigeria's economic transformation.
“In addition, it reflects the broader commitment of the Chamber with thorough supervision, institutional efficiency and people -centered governance,” he said.
During the legislative session three days after Easter resumption and the Sallah recess, no less than 51 new laws were gazetized for the first reading.
According to the Chamber spokesman, each of the 51 bills advanced the commitment of the 10th Assembly to national development, good governance and receptive legislation.
“From health and public education to agriculture, the reform of justice and the empowerment of young people, the new proposals reflect the alignment of the assembly with its legislative agenda and a strong resolution to build a better, safer and more equitable Nigeria.
“In particular, about 25% of the proposed bills focus on the constitutional reform, which underlines the sustained efforts of the Chamber in the sixth alteration in progress to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The key law projects introduced this week include: Tuberculosis Law Project (Anti-Discrimination); Project of Law on the Law of Education of Agricultural Sciences (Bank set (amendment) of the Law (amendment) of the Law of Freedom (amendment) of the Law of Libertad (amendment) of the Law of Freedom (Enmienda). Drug Law (amendment).
