The National Security Committee of the House of Representatives said Wednesday that it is willing to fulfill its legislative duties to achieve the necessary peace and good government in the country.
Representative Shaaban Sharada, Chairman of the Committee, said this in Abuja during the budget defense of the Department of the State Security Service (DSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and others. .
He said the committee would fulfill its duties to legislate, supervise and represent with all sense of responsibility and patriotism.
According to him, this is to achieve the necessary peace and good governance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as clearly stated in section 4 of the constitution.
The president said the committee was aware of the multidimensional security challenges in the country.
He added that this despite the enormous commitment of the current administration that placed the security of the country on its highest agenda.
He stated that the role of various security agencies in supporting the federal government to achieve sustainable national security as a whole could not be overemphasized.
“It is important to inform you that the committee is preparing an annual work plan containing the details of the above activities that will be shared with critical stakeholders for the preparation of the engagement that will take place as soon as possible.
He said that would make lawmakers and stakeholders in the nation’s building business aware of the ninth house agenda.
DSS’s D-G and other senior security executives were present at the scene.
