Seven dead, many wounded like two Russian bridges collapse

No less than seven people have died and dozens injured after two bridges collapsed during the night in separate incidents in Russian regions that border Ukraine.

According to the regional governor, Alexander Bogomaz, a road bridge went down to Bryansk, carrying several heavy trucks to a passenger train on Saturday night.

After the incident, emergency services said at least seven people were killed, the more than 47 people were taken to the hospital, including a child.

The Moscow railroad, while reacing on Telegram, claimed “illegal interference” responsible for the collapse of the bridge.

However, another bridge collapsed hours later in the Zheleznogorsk district, derailing a locomotor train.

According to Thr's interim governor, Alexander Khinshtein, the train caught fire and a driver suffered leg wounds, Khinshtein said.

Khinshtein wrote on Telegram: “The cause of the bridge collapse will be established. All emergency services are working on the scene. I am maintaining the situation under control.”

While the causes of the two collapses in the neighboring regions are not yet clear and Ukraine even to comment, the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office said an investigation had been launched.

The authorities said that the train locomotive and several cars were deranged when the road bridge fell on it, and added that passengers on the Klimovo train to Moscow have been guided to a meeting point at a nearby station, and added: “They can continue their trip on a specially formed reserve train” that travels from Brocú to Moscow.
