The former legislator, Senator Shehu Sani, has criticized the military for the alleged deviation of Nigeria's defense funds for non -military projects, such as shopping centers, hotels and even universities.
Speaking during a live appearance in politics today, a program broadcast on television in Canales on Friday night, Sani said that such an improper use of funds undermines Nigeria's struggle against insecurity.
He stressed that each Naira assigned to the defense should be strictly used to support the battle against terrorism and bandit.
“Defense and security funds should go to defense,” he said. “The money for the Ministry of Defense and the Army should not be used to build squares, hotels for the National Navy Association and Military Wives.

“It is for those on the battlefield to achieve the desired results.”
The former senator regretted that, although first -line troops continue to face the shortage of resources, military institutions are investing in infrastructure not related to combat efforts.
“Today, almost all security devices have markets, places and shopping centers. I even heard that they have universities,” he said.
Sani warned that diverting resources destined for war to real estate development sends the wrong message and weakens Nigeria's ability to address violent threats effectively.
“It is a known fact that the Nigerian State as a country faces a war against bandit, which has been happening for a decade.
“It is also a fact that what we are fighting in the country is not just about us against terrorists, but the same problem faces other nations such as the Republic of Niger.
“We have talked too much about insecurity, but what is needed for us is to intensify our action because our action as a nation has not been able to eradicate the action of terrorism in the country.
“You can't win the war on terrorism in 24 hours,” he said.
He asked the government and military leadership to be again-strategy and commit resources in which they are really needed on the battlefield, not in the construction of commercial or luxury companies.
