The Sokoto State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a key committee to coordinate the state’s participation in the party’s upcoming 2025 National Convention.
The inauguration, which took place on Tuesday in Sokoto, was presided over by the State President, Hon. Muhammadu Bello Aliyu Goronyo, who charged the committee members to uphold the values of unity, discipline and loyalty to the party.
Goronyo urged the committee to “protect and promote the interests of the PDP” during the national convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, stressing that the Sokoto PDP must lead by example by demonstrating internal democracy and organizational excellence.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary of State for Publicity, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, the committee is chaired by the Secretary for State Organization, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Shuni, while the Deputy Secretary of State, Alhaji Mustapha Lanas Gidadawa, will act as Secretary.

Other members include the Minority Leader of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Magaji; Alhaji Abdullahi Kiryo Yabo; Lawyer Abdulrahaman Abubakar (State Legal Advisor); Alhaji Nasiru Shehu Kware (State Auditor); Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal (Publicity Secretary); Alhaji Bello Mai Karfi (Chairman LG Presidents Forum); and Atiku Muhammad Yabo (PPD North West Zonal Youth Leader).
The party stated that the role of the committee is to ensure smooth coordination and effective participation of Sokoto delegates in the national event.
Sanyinnawal described the inauguration as “a reflection of the PDP’s strong commitment to internal democracy and the selection of credible leaders”, adding that the Sokoto chapter remains united and ready to play a key role in the success of the national convention.
He called on all party members to give the committee their full support “to ensure a successful and smooth exit that will further strengthen the PDP ahead of future elections.”
