In what the observers have described as a significant political reconciliation in the state of Sokoto, Hon. Sani Alhaji Yakubu, the member who represents the federal constituency of Tangaza/Gudu, has offered an emotional public apology to his political mentor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.

A statement made available to journalists in Sokoto on Tuesday by the media assistant of Senator Wamakko, Bashar Abubakar, said that the dramatic reconciliation took place on Sunday at the Abuja residence of Senator Wamakko, where Hon. Gudu expressed a deep regret for his false politician steps and begged forgiveness.

“I returned home with my father, with whom I have been for almost nineteen.

“I regret my past attitude, but Alhamdulillah, I have returned to continue from where I stop.”

Gudu had previously separated with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of Sokoto, a movement that now describes as a “struggle” of the true political family.

He related the salvation interventions of the life of Senator Wamakko, including personal participation to ensure his release of bandits and provide emergency assistance to a sick colleague, the late Hon. Abdulkadir Jelani Danbuga.

“When I was kidnapped by bandits, it was Senator Wamakko who paid the rescue and rescued me alive,” Gudu revealed.

“Even when Hon. Jelani Danbuga fell ill and then died, it was Wamakko who paid the hospital invoices and organized a private jet to take home his body for the burial.”

Accompanied by other federal legislators: Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi Kalambaina (Wamakko/Kware), Hon. Ibrahim Almustopha Aliyu (Rabah/Wurno), and Hon. Nasiru Shehu (Bodying/Danger Shuni/Turet) – Gudu made his sincere return to the APC fold officer.

Sources close to the meeting confirmed that both Governor Ahmed Aliyu and Senator Wamakko accepted the apologies and assured GUDU of continuous support and collaboration.

Reconciliation is seen as a political victory for APC in Sokoto, strengthening the unit of the party before future electoral competitions.
