SWAN Reinstates Two Executive Members After Suspension

Must Read

SWAN, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, has decided to bring back two important members. These members, Azuka Raph Chiemeka and Ijeoma Nwante, were part of the big team called the National Executive Committee (NEC). They got back into the team on Saturday during an online meeting.

The good news came because Azuka and Ijeoma said sorry and showed they were sorry for what they did. The other NEC members accepted their apologies and let them come back to work with everyone.

During the same meeting, the group also talked about how people can join SWAN in the future. They said new members can start signing up in November 2024 and have until the end of March 2025 to do so. The local SWAN groups in each state will help new members join and make their payments.

Everyone was also reminded to give the right information on SWAN’s website, especially for those who didn’t sign up in the previous year, 2024.

A special announcement was made by three committee members—Samuel Ahmadu, Sani Sulaiman, and Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji. They said that SWAN will have a big party to celebrate its 60th birthday! During the party, they will honor 60 people who have done great things in sports.

The President of SWAN, Benjamin Isaiah, asked the leaders in each state to work closely with the local sports offices and come up with fun sports events. The idea is to make sports better and more exciting for everyone.

The meeting also took a moment to feel sorry for the families of Supersport crew members who were lost on October 8, 2024. These crew members were on their way to record a big football game between Nigeria and Libya when something very sad happened.

SWAN also praised the police in Anambra State for helping to save six crew members and thanked the Delta State for doing a great job hosting the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba.
