The people of Ilisan, Ilara, Akaka and Ode-Remo in Ikenne and Remo North Local Government, areas of the Ogun government will soon sow a sigh of relief as the construction work on the road that unites the cities is in an advanced stage of completion.
The Ilisan-Akaka-Elmo-Remo road of more than 12 kilometers was awarded to Still Earth Construction and Realty Ltd by the state government.
A long section of approximately one kilometer of drainage on both sides and earth movements at the end of the Akaka road in preparation for the stone base and asphalt work has been completed.
Asphalt’s work has been completed from Ode-Remo to Akaka, as well as from Ilala to Akaka.
In statements to journalists who were on a tour of the Road project, the regent of Akaka, Eng. Awoderu ball, he said that the road had been in a deplorable condition for many years due to the negligence of previous governments.
Eng. Awoderu said: “As a community, we are very happy with Prince Abiodun, particularly for this path because he has been squandered for so many years. Despite the fact that we have had governments, they neglected this area.
“The bad condition of this path had actually put our community in the background because before the governor began this path, Akaka practically went to extinction. People could not come here; our people went to the farm but could not bring their products to the city of other communities could not come here to buy goods. Our markets had died, but with the reointing of this path, we are beginning to see life in the city.
“The governor came during his campaign and promised that he would make this path. This construction is now in progress, and we can see that a reasonable part has been completed, only some parts are still ongoing.
“We are very happy that this path is not being rehabilitated; it is being rebuilt. What we are seeing now is a total reconstruction.
“We are very grateful, particularly on this path. In addition to this path that comes from ODE, through Ilara and Ilisan, which brings us closer to the International Airport, we also have another path supported by the World Bank (Ramp Project) in our cultivation lands.
“For the moment it is completed, it will help our farmers to carry their farm agricultural products to the market. Once we start having this, the social activity of the city will relive.”
The regent also praised the governor for approving a Satellite Campus of the Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, in the community, pointing out that he would open another development view in the city.
“Once the Polytechnic starts the operation, more people will enter the city, so we are really grateful to the governor for these three main projects that are happening simultaneously within our city,” he added.
Also speaking, the president of the Akaka Development Council, HE. Yemi Sobambo said that with the road cutting four main cities in Sumoland and the Polytechnic campus, Akaka will surely witness an unprecedented development, appreciating the governor for going to his aid.
Akaka Town resident, Evang. Jacob Ayanwale Taiwo applauded the governor for not forgetting his promise to the city and facilitating a world bank ramp project that has helped open accessible roads to his cultivation lands.
“We also thank you for approving the Gateway Polytechnic satellite campus to be located in our city. We thank you very much,” he said, “he said,” he said.
