89 members of the minority caucus in the House of Representatives under the umbrella of the active minority have delayed the weight of the minority leader of the accumulation, HE. Kingsley Chinda (PDP, Rivers) warns that they would resist any attempt to eliminate it.

This comes immediately after a minority caucus meeting scheduled for Monday night in Abuja.

The meeting of the meeting was jointly signed on Sunday, October 5 by the Hon. Agbedi Frederick, leader of PDP Caucus, Hon. AFAM Victor Ogene, leader, LP Caucus, Hon. Muktar Umar-Zakar, NNPP Caucus and Hon. Peter Uzokwe, leader, YPP.

It was titled “Emergency Meeting Notice of the Caucus of the Miner of the House of Representatives”, and aimed at “all minority members of the House of Representatives”

The notice said: “Therefore, an emergency meeting is invited to discuss recent developments in minority leadership, particularly to review the demand instituted by the minority leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, against all members of the minority parties in the tenth chamber of representatives.”

The meeting is scheduled for the shipy hotel in Abuja. But at night last night, it was said that the place of the meeting had been changed to conference room 028 in the new building representatives at 8 pm

Remember that Chinda had filed a lawsuit last week in search of a court order to prevent the president of the Chamber, the Secretary and the leadership of the National Assembly and the Caucus from the minority parties to withdraw it as a minority leader.

Some minority legislators plan to replace Hon. Chinda about accusations of not providing leadership and working for the ruling APC, being a close confidant of the FCT minister, Chief Nyesom Wike.

But the active minority group, led by a PDP member of one of the northern states, has also gathered in Abuja before the plenary resumption on Tuesday, October 7.

A member of the active minority, who is aware of the meetings, spoke on condition of anonymity that boasted that they are prepared to counteract the movements for certain interests in the PDP and the ADC committed to replace Chinda due to their affiliation to the Minister of the Territory of the Federal Capital (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike.

According to him, “we have stumbled upon a plot of certain leaders in the PDP and ADC to replace the minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda. His only sin are the accusations that he is close to the Minister of FCT, Chief Wike.

“But I can assure you that we are ready for the sponsor to come to the floor and execute this insidious plan. Our group, the active minority is prepared to resist this because the Hon. Chinda has registered their responsibilities as an opposition leader.

“While I talk to you, the active minority has an 89 honorable members and the most honorable members identify with us. Of course, all opposition legislators have approximately 140 and we have an overwhelming majority to counteract any antidemocratic movement.”

When asked about the list of the active minority, said the legislator; “We keep our identities secret until the house resumes. We do not want to let the cat leave the bag now. Our strategy is also inside us until we are in the field of battle.”

While they give reasons why they are supporting the minority leader, the legislator said that “the unwavering commitment of Hon. It is to defend democratic principles and advocate for the rights of the Nigerian people have distinguished it as a lighthouse of hope in times of uncertainty.

“Since 2023 has faced vehemence against the detection of opposition legislators to APC. One of Chinda’s notable contributions lies in its firm opposition to the members of the opposition that defends the ruling party, citing violations of constitutional provisions and electoral laws.

“It has always been a strong voice that attracts leadership attention to at least obey the law and do the right thing.”

According to him, “in the face of adversity and resistance, Chinda has remained firm in his convictions, challenging without fear the status quo and holds the government responsible for their actions.

“His vocal position on critical issues has resonated with many, inspiring a sense of unity and solidarity among those looking for a more just and equitable society.

“When establishing a precedent of integrity and adhesion to the legal frameworks, it encourages others to do the same in the promotion of a fair and transparent government system. So why would you suddenly decide to eliminate such an effective leader from its position due to a weak excuse that is close to Wike? Why don’t you go and face Wike and leave Chinda in peace?

“Once again, the incessant search for a Chinda of transparency and responsibility underlines the importance of strengthening democratic institutions to promote a resistant government system in Nigeria.

“His dedication to raising the voices of decision -making processes often overlooked shows a deeply rooted commitment to inclusion and representation.

“The most important thing is that Chinda has demonstrated exceptional leadership when heading the sponsorship of several bills and motions that address the pressing problems faced by the nation. Therefore, we cannot allow such an excellent material to be thrown under the bus. All we are saying is that Chinda should stay,” he said.

Remember that Chinda has appointed the National Assembly, president of the Chamber, secretary of the National Assembly and members of the minority caucus as accused in the lawsuit challenging the movements to eliminate it as a minority leader.

He claimed that the plot to eliminate it comes from its close association with Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister, who is also the only member of the PDP in the Cabinet led by APC of President Tinubu.
