The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointments of new officers and the promotion of 1,897 senior officers to their next substantive ranks.
This was revealed by the Head of Press and Public Relations of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the commission approved the appointment of Dasuki Galadanci, Deputy Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 12 Bauchi, as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) to represent the North West geopolitical zone of the country.
Galadanci replaces Ibrahim Ka’oje, a GIG, who is expected to retire on February 2.
The commission promoted 14 police commissioners to the rank of deputy inspectors general of police; 21 deputy commissioners of police to commissioners of police; deputy commissioners of police to deputy commissioners of police; and 109 chief superintendents of police to deputy commissioners of police.

The Police Service Commission on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 approved the appointment of AIG Dasuki Galadanci AIG in charge of Zone 12 Bauchi as Deputy Inspector General of Police to represent the North West geopolitical zone of the country. The Commission also approved the promotion of 1,897 senior police officers to their next substantive ranks.
The Commission elevated 14 police commissioners to the next rank of deputy inspector general of police. However, one of the commissioners for promotion to AIG resigned to allow the Commission to review the pending disciplinary matters against the officer which were forwarded to the Commission by the Nigerian Police.
