The president of the Delta State Security and Security Committee, Chief Boro Opudu, has requested collective participation to effectively improve internal security in the country.
Opudu made the call while organizing the students of the senior course of 2025 47 of the Armed Forces Command and the Personal College, Jaji, on Thursday in Warri.

“All hands must be on deck to improve internal security in the communities, the areas of the local government, the states and the nation when providing intelligence, which is the promoter of each operation of the security agencies,” he said.
The students were led by Brigade General Al-Hassan Grema, coordination director, Senior 47, command of Armed Forces and Personal College, Jaji.
The issue of the tour was: “Take advantage of the basic intelligence for greater internal security.”
The president was represented in the event by Mr. Ediri Otovie, Deputy Director (Administrator)/Chief of Administration, Delta State Security Committee.
Opudu, who described the issue of the tour as very suitable, said the committee was constituted by the state government to help mitigate the security challenges in the state.
He emphasized the importance of security in society, which, according to him, reported the decision of the Government of the State of Delta to establish the committee to effectively monitor the corners and cracks of the State.
He pointed out that the State had faced a large number of infractions of peace and security, such as youth restriction, kidnapping, armed robbery, vandalism of illegal pipes and bunkering, among others.
Opudu said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, in his wisdom, was the committee to address perennial insecurity in the state.
He added that, although the Committee has no weapons or uses uniforms in the course of its duties, it provides useful intelligence to security agencies for possible arrests and prosecution as the case may be.
“Security is an important concern in society; it is a critical sector that affects everyone. Therefore, the roles of various stakeholders are needed.
“The State Security Committee is composed of community leaders, interested parties and young people who are familiar with the riverside and terrestrial terrain of the State.
“The committee is expected to send early warning signals to the appropriate security agencies in case of infractions, to ensure that the land and river roads of the State are safe for the population and investors.
“The committee has the mandate to help the government verify the activities of criminals, thugs and kidnappers, as well as in the protection of lives and properties in the state,” he said.
Opudu said that the recruitment of informants and the composition of the committee members were carried out from the immediate communities.
According to him, this approach makes its operations more effective, since members are familiar with practically all indigenous people in their environments.
Opudu concluded that the issue of the tour was a contemporary issue in national discourse.
However, he pointed out that if he is well investigated, he would offer solutions to emerging security challenges that have not only cost lives, but also negatively affected the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Nation.
In response, Brigade General Game thanked the committee for receiving them.
Grema said the participants were on a tour of the Security Committee of the roads of the State of Delta and the safety of the land to understand their mode of operations.
“We have found useful conclusions of its informative session. I have been in Delta; this committee has been active for a long time.
“My advice is that any commander of the security forces operate in Delta who does not work in close collaboration with this committee will find his very challenging work,” he said.
