While President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks his second year in office, former presidential candidate Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze has asked him to intensify the efforts to address the economic and security challenges of the country.
Anakwenze made the call in a launch, pointing out that despite some progress, much is still needed to verify the kidnappings, bandider, confrontations between shepherds and farmers, and murders in some parts of the country.
“It is commendable that President Bola Tinubu, in his second anniversary speech, declared that the nation's security situation is improving as his administration has prioritized security and security, improving collaboration between security agencies and increasing intelligence based operations to effectively combat security challenges,” Anakwenze said.
While praising the military for restoring order in some northwest areas previously controlled by bandits, Anakwenze expressed sadness for violent attacks against communities in Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa and other northern states, which resulted in murders and destruction of properties.
He also condemned recent kidnappings and murders in the states of Ondo and Kogi, where a real father and another individual were kidnapped and killed despite rescue payments.
“Despite some improvements, there is still the need for high efforts by security agencies, with the total support of the federal government, to address frontally and decisively, persistent security challenges and emerging trends,” Anakwenze emphasized.
In the economy, Anakwenze advocated integral revolutionary reforms to stabilize the economy of the nation, promote productivity and employment, and reduce poverty.
“It is necessary to create abundant opportunities for young and unemployed, and reduce poverty in the country,” he said.
The head of PDP expressed a strong belief that the implementation of these measures, focused on the development of human capital and the ongoing initiatives in education, health and programs for the empowerment of young people, will greatly contribute to improve security, peace and development in Nigeria.
