The Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC) says it failed to issue an apology to a former Cross River state governor, duke donaldfor ‘using’ his images in a documentary.

The documentary titled “Bola Tinubu and his Political Journey” used some images to depict Mr. Tinubu in his youth.

The documentary was broadcast on Mainland Television, a station Tinubu is believed to have an interest in.

Duke, a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), last week accused the CCP of using his photos to portray the former Lagos state governor in the documentary.

While speaking at an event organized by the Front Fort Media Initiative and the MacArthur Foundation in Lagos, Duke claimed the photo was taken during his days at Federal Government College, Sokoto.

“The photo of the boy used as Bola Tinubu in all the documentaries is me. I am the boy in the photo, not Tinubu as they claim in their documentaries.

“That photo was taken when I was 12 years old during my school years at the Sokoto Federal Government College, in Sokoto state,” he said.

Some media platforms had published a statement purportedly from Bayo Onanuga, one of the PCC’s spokespersons, stating that the campaign had issued an apology to Mr. Duke.

However, in a statement on Monday, Onanuga dismissed the reports, noting that the campaign did not apologize to Duke.

“Our attention has been drawn to a press release currently in circulation credited to the Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

“In the said statement, it was reported that Mr. Onanuga apologized to Mr. Donald Duke for a mistake in the use of his image in a documentary about Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We want to state categorically that the APC Presidential Campaign Council Publicity and Media Directorate did not authorize such a statement and Mr. Onanuga did not issue any statement on behalf of the campaign council and our director, Asiwaju Tinubu today,” said Mr. Onanuga said.

Mr. Tinubu’s past has been a highly controversial subject, particularly the records of his education.
