The popular Nigerian filmmaker, Kayode Peters, died in Canada after prolonged disease.
The news of his death was announced by his family through his official Instagram page on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Fans, actors and colleagues from the entertainment industry are mourning for the sudden loss of a man who played a vital role in the configuration of comedy and modern Nigerian cinema.
Peters first won prominence for directing the iconic comedy television program Papa Ajosco and Company.
Later he produced the successful situation comedy, which had main stars such as Basketmouth and Okyy Bakassi. These shows became home favorites in Nigeria.
Beyond television, Peters left a strong brand in Nollywood with a series of successful films.

1. 13 Letters (2021)
Directed by Peters and released in Gidiboxoffice, 13 letters starred Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye and Teddy A.
The film explored the emotional consequences of the social networks of the former lovers. His relatable history and emotional depth made him a viral success.
2. Crazy Granes (2021)
Co -directed with the top alake, this comedy follows three grandmothers who are released from social expectations in search of fun and freedom.
With Shaffy Bello and Ngozi Nwosu, the film delighted the public with their humor and vibrant energy.
3. I am Nazz (2022)
Starring Nancy Isime and Jidekene Achufusi, I am Nazzy is a body exchange comedy that examines identity and fame. The film was praised for its refreshing story and comic time.

4. Survivors (2022)
This comedy thriller presents the popular Sketers Mr. Macaroni, Broda Shaggi and Mc Lively. It tells the story of two unemployed friends who involuntarily get involved in a kidnapping plot, which leads to a series of chaotic events.
5. Dream work (2021)
A motivating drama that explores issues of ambition, disappointment and second opportunities. The work of dreams echoed with the young Nigerians who strive to achieve their dreams in the face of adversity.
6. Tears (2024)
A deeply emotional family drama focused on love, loss and resistance. Teardrops is considered one of the most sincere and mature works of Peters.
In addition to the films produced by Kayode Peters and their film and television achievements, he also obtained recognition for his plays and short films, including Doll House, Dead Rite and Road to Friendship, which were presented at several film festivals.
One of his first contributions to the industry was Crossworld Blues, the first comedy series that is broadcast on DBN TV. His success made Peters one of the pioneer figures in the Nigerian television comedy.
