The Foreign Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has urged the practitioners of the Western Africa media to pay less attention to the departure of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger of the Economic Community of the States of Western Africa (Ecowas), emphasizing that the approach should be in economic development.
Tuggar declared the media when he received a delegation from the Parliament of the Cedea led by the speaker, Rt. Excmo Memounatou Ibrahima, in his office in Abuja, on Friday, as part of the bilateral association to strengthen democratic governance in Western Africa, before the 25th anniversary of the Parliament of the Ceowas in November.
The minister also warned those interested to pay more attention to the twelve remaining member states and how they can develop critical sectors with policies and programs such as the point of power of Western Africa, the scheme of liberalization of the trade of CEDEAS, the corridor of Abidjan-Lagos, the corridor abidjan –Dakar and others that will improve the development of the region.

He pointed out that the Parliament of CEDEAS is the incarnation of the “representation of the citizens of the Member States and demonstrates the commitment to constitutional and democratic governance.”
Tuggar, however, expressed his optimism that the three Sahel countries that retired after eco -war disagreements about military blows will soon see reasons to return to the regional bloc.
He said: “We will continue working hard for the success of Ecowas and the success of the Member States will encourage countries to return. As we continue to say, we have not closed the door on their return, we are sure that they will return because they are part and plot of the region. It is only a matter of time.”
Tuggar also said that although the three countries have left the regional bloc, Nigeria and other countries in the region will continue to be related to them as neighbors and work together in certain areas to obtain mutual benefits.
President of Parliament Ibrahima, who was accompanied in the visit of the fourth vice president, Billay Tunkara; The general secretary, Bertin, some, among others, said that the delegation was there to update the minister about the past activities of Parliament in recent years and a half while planning his future activities.
Both parties also discussed the Ecowas at age 50, which was held on May 28 in Lagos, while Parliament, established in 2000, is ready to celebrate its 25 years as a regional legislature.
“We discuss how we can have some capacity and improvement so that we can have a more legislative role in the community of Cedeas. We also discuss how we can support Ecowas in all its programs and activities,” said speaker Togolesse.
