UK Identifies First Case of Highly Contagious Mpox

Must Read

A person in the United Kingdom, also known as the UK, has come down with a case of mpox, which people used to call monkeypox.

Prof Susan Hopkins, who is in charge of the UK Health Security Agency (HSA), told everyone about this on Wednesday.

She said, “This is the first time we’ve found this type of mpox in the UK, although other people have had it in other countries.”

Prof Hopkins also said that people living in the UK do not need to worry too much because the chance of it spreading is low. They are trying very hard to find anyone who might have been close to the sick person and stop the disease from spreading to more people.

The BBC reports that a person living in the UK went on a trip to Africa. They started feeling not so good just one day after coming back home on October 21. First, they felt like they had the flu, with a fever, and then they got red spots on their skin a few days later.

They also found out that around ten people, like the person’s family or friends who live nearby, are being checked to see if they are okay or if they might need help.
