Twenty -five years after his iconic duo “The Boy is Mine” headed the lists, Brandy and Mónica are gathering for their first joint tour in the United States.
The Grammy winner R&B stars announced the 24 -cities arena tour, also entitled “The Boy Is Mine”, Tuuesday in CBS Mornings. The tour begins on October 16 in Cincinnati and ends on December 7 in Houston.
“They were trying to make a tour from '98 and finally felt like the right time,” said Brandy. “It was a dream come true.”
Monica described his renewed association as a “musical marriage.” “We create communication and the relationship to do it,” he said.
Its 1998 success spent 13 consecutive weeks in number 1 in Billboard Hot 100, placing them between the elite company such as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. After a surprise appearance in the music video “The Boy is Mine” by Ariana Grande last year, the duo saw renewed popularity and obtained a Grammy nomination for Remix.
They join Brandy and Monica on the tour are the Grammy winner Kelly Rowland, the creator of Muni Long successes and the 2025 American Idol Jamal Roberts winner.
The announcement also follows years of reported tension among the singers, which both recognized.
“There was a lot of confusion and conflict and there were many people around,” Monica said.
Despite the narrative of the original song, they emphasized that they never competed with men in real life.
“We don't even like the same guy … there could never have been a child,” said Monica.
“That part is difficult.” We want to give them everything they want, but we can't stay there all night.
So we have to find a way to condense this in two hours of a music celebration, celebration of femininity, ”said Monica.
Tickets go on sale on Friday at 10 am local time through Ticketmaster. The pre -sales begin on Thursday from 10 am to 11:59 pm with the BPC code.
