Controversial social media personality, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly apologized after his in-flight confrontation with comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, better known as Mr Jollof, caused delays on a United Nigeria Airlines flight.
Tribune Online reports that the incident occurred on a flight from Asaba to Lagos, where the two men were captured on video physically fighting while their fellow passengers tried to intervene.
In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, VeryDarkMan said he took “full responsibility” for the outage and said the incident was unnecessary.
“I would really like to apologize for what happened yesterday at United Nigerian Airlines. What happened yesterday was not supposed to happen and I will take full responsibility for it,” he said.
He acknowledged that the confrontation delayed passengers with important commitments.
“Many people on that flight had important things to do, but because of that little irresponsibility on my part, their flight was delayed. Some people might have had medical emergencies and others had business contracts to sign. I don’t know what that little delay would have cost them, and I really want to apologize,” he added.
“Looking back on what happened yesterday, I really didn’t like that part. Even though some people saw it all as a cruise ship on social media, I acted irresponsibly,” he said.
He assured Nigerians that this would not happen in public spaces.
“I can’t guarantee that it won’t happen again. I can only guarantee that it won’t happen on the plane, on the bus or in a public place that prevents people from going to their destination,” he said. “But I’m really sorry about yesterday.”
