The supporters of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the newly appointed National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), resulted in large number at Lagos Airport on Friday night to welcome Abuja.
The former Interior Minister was received by a multitude of enthusiastic loyal, many of whom carried bright orange tapas, a symbol of renewed political commitment and solidarity.
The cheers exploded when Aregbesola made its way through the terminal, with supporters singing slogans and showing banners to celebrate their last political movement.
Tribune Online reports that Aregbesola was recently appointed the Interim National Secretary of ADC, a new coalition party that won impulse before the 2027 general elections.

The ADC coalition, which is being positioned as a viable alternative to the ruler Congress of all progressives (APC), has the support of influential political figures such as former vice president Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Labor Party of 2023, Peter Obi, and the former president of the Senate, David Mark.
Speaking about his new role, Aregbesola made comparisons between the political parties of Nigeria and the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa, highlighting the ideological vacuum in many Nigerian parties.
“The ANC is not perfect, but it represents something. It was forged in resistance, exacerbated by the vision and directed by men and women who believe in justice, dignity, equality, inclusion of all interests and true freedom. It has character. It has a soul,” said Aregbesola.
He added: “Unfortunately, in Nigeria today, we cannot say the same about many of our political parties. Our political landscape is full of parties that lack ideological depth. They are emerging and divided empty shells, not about politics or principle, but by power and personality.”
